Ход урока:

Teacherl: How are you today? Are you in good mood today? Did you sleep well?

How are you feeling?

Students: We are fine. We are in good mood etc.

(предполагаемый ответ)

Teacherl: As for me I’m glad to see all of you in this class. I’m in good mood, because everything is fine with me. Could you guess why? Do you know what the holiday is today?

Students: It’s the 5th of October. The International Teacher’s Day.

Teacherl: You are quite right. You see, today is my holiday. I want you to give me rest while you’ll run the lesson. One of you will be a teacher. Do you agree with

me?

Students: Certainly we can. Besides the topic of the lesson is very interesting. I want to be a teacher. It’s my dream to be a teacher of English.

Teacherl: Good luck to you.

Teacher2: So, students, imagine that you are representatives from English — speaking countries to the conference according the importance of Foreign languages. Our conference deals with the problems on how can we improve and increase our knowledge in English. You know learning a foreign language is not an easy thing. It’s a long process that takes a lot of time and efforts.

Let’s divide into groups. You are representatives from Canada (give a card), you are from Russia, you are from Finland.

Discuss our problem and give your advice according your own experience.

So, let’s begin our conference.

We are happy to welcome our guests from Russia. What have you brought to our conference?

Russia: You see, last 3 years we have been working at

the problem of education in our country. I mean learning foreign languages at school.

And as a result, so let us see:

Last year we were in London on account of exchange of our students. Now you’re gonna to see the experience of communication.

Dialogue

(two students are speaking) one of them is an English boy I’m afraid, my English is not very good.

Your English sounds fine.

Thank you for the compliment.

It’s not a compliment. I mean it.

That’s what my teacher and classmates usually say.

They want to encourage you. You explain things pretty well. You’re going to make it no doubt.

Thank you. You are very kind. But still, I cannot imagine myself speaking with native speakers. I’m a bit afraid of my poor English.

Don’t worry about it! All you have to do is to explain something. Even a few grammatical errors won’t harm you.

I see. But I’m still confused how to use English grammar.

You see. The more you speak the better you become. Practice makes perfect.

We understood that people are confused because of the lack for practice.

Teacher2: That’s why we’re invited our friends from Canada and England. They’d like to show you that it is necessary to train English, to improve English, to be exact, just because it’s the international language. England: I’d like to say that you begin studying English

in the 1st form. We start with the ABC, transcription and sounds.

Then we learn some English words, conversational phrases and dialogues by heart, read and translate easy texts. From lesson to lesson we improve our knowledge, learn more and more new words, grammar structures and put them into practice of speaking. At home we try to listen to different educational programmes, watch English films on TV and video. And as a result we communicate with one another making useful statements in real life situations.

Canada: As far as we know English today is very

necessary for every educated man for good specialist. But English is not an easy language to learn. There is a big

problem of spelling, of the large number of exceptions to any rule. This language is very idiomatic and the prepositions are terrible. English may seem easy at the beginning. But then the bridge between basic knowledge and mastery takes a long time to cross. But if you manage to cross this bridge it will give you great satisfaction. Russia: No doubt that in the course of the last hundred

years English has become a world language in politics, science, trade and cultural relations. In a number of speakers it is second only to Chinese. It is the official language of the UK, of the USA, of Australia and New Zealand. English is used as one of the official languages in Canada, the Republic of South Africa and the Irish republic. It’s also spoken as a second language by many people in India, Pakistan.

Canada: Even more widely English is studied and used as

a foreign language. In this respect it acquired an international status. It’s used for communication across frontiers, listening to broadcasts, reading books and newspapers, in commerce and travel. Half of the world’s scientific literature is in English, It’s the language of automation and computer technology. It’s not only the universal language of international aviation, shipping and sport, it is considerable degree the universal language of literacy and public communication It’s the major language of diplomacy and is the most frequently used language in the UNO.

Teacher2: Let us make a short summary why we study English, (she turns over the parts of the flower an the blackboard)

1)

to read books in original

2)

to communicate with other people

3)

because English is the

international language

4)

to have a pen — friend

5)

to be an educated person

1 Why do we learn English?

I’d like to thank our guests for their coming here. And I

hope now, we all are sure as English is the international

language, in this respect we have to learn it.
