Westminster Palace, better known today as the Parliament building, is the oldest Royal Palace in London, on the world heritage site it is one of the most famous buildings in the world. The Palace of Westminster, built since 1840 on the site of significant earlier buildings of the middle ages, has become an outstanding example of neo-Gothic architecture. The present building dates mainly from the XIX century, when it was restored after the fire. Westminster Palace is a perfect example of the Victorian era. The house of Commons (elected members of Parliament) is located on the North side of the building, and the house of lords is located on the South side of the building.
